We live and love sustainability

Sustainability must be actively lived, that is the motto of FWG. So we write history of a family business with commitment to social and ecological action. FWG was the first Swiss multi-restaurant company to introduce CO2 transparency in all food!

We will continue to bring you along on our sustainability journey and, as always, look forward to your feedback: tell us where you think we can do more.💬

For our future

Why: We want to take responsibility for humanity and nature.

How: We bring sustainability into our restaurants and onto the plates of our guests. We are guided by standards such as the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals and the 3 pillars of economic, environmental and social sustainability.

What:  We will reduce our CO2 footprint by 40% by 2030 compared to 2022. We promote the protection of land, water, air, and wildlife by carefully using resources and responsibly disposing of waste. We are committed to advocating for education, equal opportunities, access to healthcare, fair compensation, and the prevention of child labor and forced labor across all levels of our supply chain.

What is climate-friendly food?

A dish causes an average of 1,258 g of CO2 emissions - this was calculated from over 76,000 recipes in Switzerland. Anything that has at most half the CO2 emissions, i.e. better than 629 g of CO2 per dish, is considered climate-friendly.

By the way, in our online store you can filter for climate-friendly dishes so you can eat more sustainably.

We take responsibility for the climate

Why you pay for climate protection and how your contribution is used:

In addition to reducing our own emissions, we are also investing in removing CO2 from the air. Our goal is to reduce our CO2 emissions by 10% and remove an additional 5% by the end of 2025. That's why your contribution goes to the Swiss company Climeworks, which specializes in developing technologies that capture CO2 and store it underground, where it mineralizes within 1-2 years and turns back into rock. In this way, the CO2 is permanently removed from the atmosphere and can no longer contribute to climate change..

So we don't throw food away, but we bring it to hungry helpers by means of TGTG. Help also you with!

Sustainability projects in our restaurants

In the FWG restaurants, there is so much that is implemented on the topic of sustainability. Here is a selection:

    • Energy-saving operation:All FWG restaurants obtain green electricity. In addition, LED lamps are in use, as well as the latest kitchen and refrigeration equipment.
    • Sustainable resources: 95% of our take-away and delivery containers made from renewable and recyclable raw materials for example our Röhrli from sugar cane.
    • Coffee: We use exclusively Fairtrade coffee beans from organic and socially responsible cultivation.
    • Cooking oil:We obtain biodiesel from the cooking oil.
    • Local: For our meat, fish and vegetables, we work closely and long-term with local partners.

Free tap water

For the sake of our environment, we rely on tap water whenever possible when serving water by the glass. Because tap water is 1000 times more environmentally friendly than bottled water. Fill up your glass or brought bottle simply with fresh water from the tap.

Partner with code of conduct

We attach great importance to sustainability in purchasing and procurement. So we also work with partners over time to create a good basis for sustainability projects. Our suppliers and partners are committed to sustainability, the highest quality in products and services, species-appropriate husbandry and short transport routes.

About our code of conduct

Protection of species

Shrimps
We serve only ASC certified Selva shrimp from the natural habitat of the mangrove forest. They are not fed any feed, so they are 100% non-GMO (GMO-free). The Selva Shrimp program supports mangrove forest conservation and enables farmers and their families to earn a fair income and improve their livelihoods.

Salmon
Our salmon comes from sustainable aquaculture in Norway that is ASC certified. The cold water brings many benefits in salmon farming such as: fewer parasites, less disease pressure and slower growth resulting in better quality. The fish are vaccinated against viral infections, the feed is from sustainable sources and no antibiotics are used.

Tuna
The tuna we use comes from sustainable fisheries in the west central Pacific. It is MSC certified and is caught with longlines instead of nets to avoid bycatch and not endanger the stocks.

SAVE BEEF, CHOOSE PLANTED

In all our restaurants, we are always developing new climate-friendly dishes - and we are particularly proud of this! Because if we eat climate-friendly three times a week, we can change the world.

With us, you always have the choice of meat, vegan or vegetarian. Either way, there's no shortage of enjoyment. Eat climate-friendly!

Sustainable on the road with your own bike couriers

Your delivery order we deliver (mostly*) with our own bike courier. That this is more sustainable than deliveries by car, scooter & co. is self-evident. Plus, our bike couriers are permanent employees of our food family. This makes the fun at work even greater!

*Not all zip codes we can deliver with our bike courier. In those areas, we count on our delivery partners.
